RLUSD price A LITTLE MORE CONTEXT

If it targets $1, why does the price move?

$1 is the target. The chart shows what buyers and sellers are trading at. An exchange is a marketplace, so its price can be a little higher or lower.

  • More buyers: people may pay slightly more to get tokens quickly.
  • More sellers: people may accept slightly less to sell quickly.
  • Fewer offers: one large trade can move the price further. This is called low liquidity.
At $0.999, 1,000 RLUSD is worth $999 before fees—$1 below its $1,000 target value. A zoomed-in chart can make this small difference look dramatic.
What helps pull it back towards $1?

Approved business customers, such as financial firms, can exchange dollars for newly issued tokens, or return tokens for dollars. Buying below $1 and redeeming, or issuing at $1 and selling above it, can narrow a price gap. Fees, delays and restrictions can get in the way; recovery is not guaranteed. Direct issuer access is limited to approved institutions.

Different exchanges and update times can also produce slightly different readings. A lasting, larger gap deserves closer attention; this chart alone cannot tell you the cause.

We label $0.995–$1.005 “Near the peg”. This is a display rule, not a safety rating.

Which dollar does RLUSD follow?

The US dollar (USD), not the Australian dollar (AUD). Dollar prices on this site are in USD.

If US$1 buys A$1.50, a token at US$1 is worth about A$1.50 before fees. If the exchange rate changes to A$1.40, its Australian-dollar value changes too.

These are illustrative exchange rates, not live quotes. RLUSD can stay near US$1 while its value in your home currency moves.

Market capitalisation A LITTLE MORE CONTEXT

Does a bigger market cap mean I made money?

Not necessarily. Market capitalisation estimates the value of all tokens in circulation: token count × market price.

100 tokens worth $1 each = $100 market cap.
If 10 more tokens are issued at $1, market cap becomes $110. Each original token is still worth $1.

Growth can mean more tokens were issued. A fall can mean tokens were returned and removed. Price changes and data-provider corrections can also move the number.

It does not measure the dollars held in reserve, Ripple’s share price, or your profit.

24-hour trading volume A LITTLE MORE CONTEXT

What does trading volume actually tell me?

It estimates how much trading happened across the exchanges tracked by our data provider during the previous 24 hours.

If the same 10 tokens trade at $1 three times, that adds $30 of trading volume. There are still only 10 tokens.

High volume means more reported trading activity. It does not automatically mean new investors, more reserve money, or a safer token.

Each chart point looks back 24 hours. Those windows overlap, so adding the points would count some trades again. It also does not count every wallet-to-wallet transfer.

What do M, B and % mean?

These are short ways to show large numbers and changes.

  • K = thousand. $10K means $10,000.
  • M = million. $2.5M means $2,500,000.
  • B = billion. $2.5B means $2,500,000,000.
  • % = out of 100. A 5% rise from $100 takes it to $105.

A + sign means an increase; a − sign means a decrease. On the market-cap card, the change compares the start and end of the selected chart period. Figures are rounded to keep the page readable; the data table provides more detail.

This is a saved snapshot, like a photo taken at a particular time. Prices may have changed since then.

We check for newer market snapshots when you return or reconnect, and while this page is open. News is checked daily. Reserve figures have their own disclosure date.

“Updates delayed” means we have not received a fresh snapshot within the expected time. It does not mean RLUSD itself has failed.

BEHIND THE NUMBERS

What happened around here? A LITTLE MORE CONTEXT

Chart context

Markers group issuer announcements by their publication date in UTC. Large sampled moves are flagged at 0.2% for price, 5% for market cap and 25% for volume. These are browsing filters, not risk ratings. A news date is not evidence that a story caused a move. Up to 20 recent marked dates appear on the chart; choose any date below.

0 issuer announcements

No matching issuer announcement in our collected sources on this date. The reason for a move is unconfirmed.

Publication timing alone does not establish the cause of a move.

A LITTLE MORE CONTEXT

Did this news cause the jump?

We don’t know from the dates alone. The markers show articles published around the same time, so you can investigate.

A new exchange listing and a price rise might happen on the same day. That timing is a clue—not proof that one caused the other.

Several stories can appear on one date. Our initial feed covers selected Ripple articles, so an empty date does not mean nothing happened.

A gap in the line means observations are missing. A jump may also come from token issuance, trading activity or a data correction. Read the linked sources before drawing a conclusion.

Explore the sourced adoption timeline
How should I interpret a jump?

Market cap is roughly price × circulating supply. Issuance, redemption or a provider revising its supply estimate can change it. Market data alone cannot distinguish these causes.

News provides context, not proof of causation. This feed covers selected Ripple announcements, not every exchange, regulator or independent news outlet.

BUILT ON BACKING

Confidence, in reserve. A LITTLE MORE CONTEXT

What does 105.1% backing mean?

Reserves are the assets held to support the tokens. Coverage compares their reported dollar value with the dollar value of tokens in circulation.

100 tokens + $105.10 of reserves = 105.1% coverage.
With only $99 of reserves, coverage would be 99%—a $1 shortfall.

100% means $1 of reported assets per $1 of tokens. Above 100% shows a reported buffer. Below 100% shows a shortfall.

Reserves can include bank deposits and short-term financial assets such as US Treasury bills—short-term loans to the US government. They are not all physical cash.

This is a dated snapshot. Green on the gauge does not prove the money is available instantly or that today’s balance is unchanged. The 90% colour boundary only separates shortfall sizes.

Reserve colour thresholds

Coverage divides reserve funds by the dollar face value of circulating RLUSD from the same dated disclosure. The 90% boundary only separates shortfall sizes for illustration; it is not a regulatory safe zone. Green describes the reported ratio, not overall safety. Asset quality, liquidity, custody and the age of the disclosure still matter.

What does circulating mean?

Tokens that have been issued and remain in circulation. Tokens returned to the issuer and removed through redemption reduce this count. We use the issuer’s count from the same date as the reserve figure.

A LITTLE MORE CONTEXT

Does “stable” mean my money is guaranteed?

No. “Stable” describes the price goal. It is not a promise that your money is protected from every problem.

  • The token could trade below $1.
  • Problems with reserves or redemptions could affect confidence and access to dollars.
  • An exchange or wallet problem could stop you accessing your tokens, even when the market price is near $1.

RLUSD is not a US government dollar or an FDIC-insured bank deposit. A reserve report checks a particular date; it cannot guarantee what happens afterwards.

The figures here help explain the token. They are not a recommendation to buy it.

What is RLUSD, in plain English?

RLUSD is a digital token designed to be worth one US dollar. You can move it between supported digital wallets—the apps or devices that let you hold and transfer tokens.

Think “a dollar-valued token you can send online”. It is issued by a company, not the US government.

“Stablecoin” describes that steady-price goal. “Peg” means the value it aims to follow. Neither word promises that you cannot lose money.

RLUSD and XRP are different tokens. Buying RLUSD does not give you shares in Ripple.

Ripple’s RLUSD introduction

A few things worth knowing.

01

One dollar, on-chain

RLUSD is designed to track the US dollar, backed by cash and cash equivalents.

02

Different from XRP

RLUSD is a stablecoin. XRP is the native asset of the XRP Ledger.
